Abstract: When discussing the issue of torture, we usually focus on two aspects, the moral status and the legal status of such acts. In this paper I will argue, using a deontological approach, that torture is never moral. We know that some countries practice this type of act even though it is prohibited by the International Law, but that does not mean we should legalise it. I will also discuss the ticking bomb argument and try to show that when deciding whether or not torture is justified, we need to use other arguments.
